Adriana María Ríos joined Allen F. Johnson (AFJ) & Associates as Marketing and Business Development Manager in September 2007. In this role, Adriana is responsible for developing marketing strategies for AFJ’s products and services and for identifying new business opportunities for AFJ and its partners. She works closely with Ambassador Johnson and the rest of the AFJ team to accelerate AFJ and its clients’ growth and increase their visibility in the marketplace. Adriana brings a strong background in business development, sales, and project management to AFJ & Associates. She has a proven record for building and maintaining successful relationships with heads of public and private enterprises, an experience that will allow AFJ to better serve its current clients and to expand its customer base. Additionally, Adriana’s international experience gives her insight into client needs and challenges across Latin America.
Prior to joining AFJ & Associates, Adriana served as Associate Director of Sales at the Corporate Executive Board in D.C. She successfully built relationships with Presidents of $1B-$5B businesses within Global 4200 firms, managed all areas of outbound sales efforts, and employed a consultative sales approach to demonstrate capabilities across a varied set of business challenges. Adriana originally joined the Corporate Executive Board as a Business Development Associate, where she gained experience launching and marketing new products, building proposals, handling procurement negotiations, and responding to inbound requests.
Adriana is currently a member of the Board of Alumni Trustees of the Foundation for Student Communication (Business Today), an independent not-for-profit focused on engaging business leaders and students in a constructive debate. Adriana was President of the Foundation in 2004, where managed a team of 50 students in 8 different program areas, which encompass the largest student-run magazine in the nation (Business Today) and a premier International Conference. Adriana also led the organization’s revenue generating activities. In the years prior to her presidency, Adriana organized the International Conference titled The Social Conscience of Business, to which she recruited and coordinated over 70 speakers including: Russell Simmons, Steve Forbes, and Pete Peterson, among others.
Additionally, Adriana has international experience managing projects in Latin America for both Operation Smile and the Cruz Blanca Initiative. Adriana served both organizations as project leader in several occasions, building partnerships with governments in Venezuela, Brazil, and Mexico and carrying out philanthropic initiatives.
Adriana received a Bachelor of Arts in Politics from Princeton University, where she concentrated in law and health policy. She also has a minor in Italian Languages & Cultures and has studied at the Università Degli Studi di Firenze in Florence, Italy.
Originally from Caracas, Venezuela, Adriana is fluent in Spanish, English, and Italian and is proficient in Brazilian Portuguese.
