Isabel MartínezIsabel Martínez joined Allen F. Johnson & Associates (AFJ) in November 2006 as AFJ’s Regional Project and Events Manager.  Ms. Martínez has extensive experience in planning and implementing technical training events and seminars for US agricultural groups and she provides daily monitoring and analysis of trade, economic, and political developments in Central and other parts of Latin America in English and Spanish.  She also brings strong administrative and project management skills that enable her to be highly effective for AFJ’s clients. 

During her time at AFJ, Ms. Martínez has developed and implemented technical training seminars covering cold chain storage systems, transportation, marketing, grading and quality issues, and other technical topics in El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, and Costa Rica.  Her excellent management skills and attention to details has resulted in seminars being highly successful and viewed favorably by both AFJ’s clients and the participants.  She has also used her design and translation skills to develop support materials for these seminars and worked with clients to create technical bulletins in Spanish and English for these projects.  Ms. Martínez also manages AFJ’s office in Guatemala.

Ms. Martínez provides daily monitoring and analysis of the key trade, economic, and political events in all of the Central American countries and other parts of Latin America.  She also has strong contacts with the US Department of Agriculture Foreign Agricultural Service (FAS) offices in the region and with Central American government and private sector contacts.  


Prior to joining AFJ, Ms. Martínez worked a prestigious Central American banking corporation (Corporación Cuscatlán de Guatemala) for nearly ten years.  She was a key team member in both the credit and acquisitions divisions of the banks and as a result brings strong financial and investment knowledge to AFJ.

Ms. Martínez was born in Guatemala and Costa Rican descent, is bilingual in English and Spanish and has some training in French and an educational background in International Relations. She is married and some of her hobbies include playing tennis and reading.
